RANT!

Thu Oct 29, 2009, 8:45 AM
Oh, please.

Is this art? [link]
Or just an excuse for porn.

I have had MUCH tamer images than this deleted (one because I was touching my THIGH).

  • Mood: Anger
  • Watching: The computer monitor, obviously

This.... is porn. There's no message or symbolism in it. It's documentary, like an anatomy book. I see absolutely no artistic merit whatsoever.
:iconerosanne:
And neither do I. I'm with you there. Sigh.

Very badly photographed porn. I can write ten times more erotic than that with my eyes shut...

Hi, I'm an erotica and satirical author on DA, with 60 stories so far. My work includes lots of boobs, smoking fetishism, sky high heels, naughty tattoos, tantalising piercings, tight corsets, shiny rubber, and beautiful women stalking unwary prey...

Another prime example of why this place is going down-hill fast, much like most websites on the internet, sadly.

You are completely right! No comparison at all!
Please, go on with your art and with your wonderful photos!!
You are an awesome model!

By the way, I reported several of these images (though in my opinion, the whole profile ought to be a gonner).
I am saddened to see that most of the images have already been reported several times and no action taken. I suppose that's what I'm really objecting to.
If you want to look at porn, then go to a porn site!
Just don't dress it up or justify it as 'art.'

This is pornography, plain and simple. I agree with the first persons take on this, if it has no message, and represents no symbolic purpose, then it is just for show-not art...

We must always match our faith with the truth, then it will move mountains...
:iconerosanne:
Yeah, I totally agree.
Probably one of the most concise definitions ever of the difference between art and porn, I'm rather liking HouserPhotography's wording!

So, on one of the most graphic images on the profile in question, it has been reported five times for inappropriate material:
# First Report: Wed Oct 28 2009 05:04
Case Closed: Wed Oct 28 2009 10:56
Status: Invalid
Comment: A reviewing member of staff has reviewed this report and has determined that no action is necessary as this deviation does not meet the current definition for pornography.

Comment: A member of staff has reviewed this report and has found no need for action either because either the concern was not considered valid or because the content of the deviation was considered to be within the limits defined by official policy.

No action was taken.

It strikes me that maybe a more valid complaint then would be to report it as a mis-categorization. NOBODY could describe these photos as 'artistic nude.' Perhaps it is time for deviant 'art' to create a new category: porn, since it is apparently perfectly acceptable.

It's been two days, and I'm totally addicted to DA! Would love to leave the PC, but that would only be to join Deviant Artists Anonymous!
